Summary of key decisions taken at the fourteenth and fifteenth Coordination Coordination Committee meetings

A summary of key decisions made at the fourteenth (28 August 2014) and fifteenth (16 September 2014) Coordination Committee meetings

Key issues discussed and decisions made at the 14th and 15th meetings include:

  • Endorsement of First Instalment (Part 2) of 368 recommended awards for injured workers, which amount in total to 27,155,183 BDT. Disbursement authorized with a disbursement percentage of 40%. Trustee of the Rana Plaza Donor Trust Fund instructed to transfer the necessary funds in the amount of BDT 903,865 (representing 40 per cent of the awarded amounts after deducting the amounts already received by the beneficiaries from the RPCA and Prime Ministers Relief Fund) to the RPCA account .
  • Endorsement of Second Instalment of 796 recommended awards (176 for injured workers and 620 regarding deceased workers). which amount in total to 242,363,266 BDT. Disbursement authorized with a disbursement percentage of 40%. Trustee of the Rana Plaza Donor Trust Fund instructed to transfer the necessary funds in the amount of BDT 49,937,603.8 (representing 40 per cent of the awarded amounts after deducting the amounts already received by the beneficiaries from the RPCA and Prime Ministers Relief Fund) to the RPCA account.
  • In view In view of technical difficulties with respect to opening fixed-deposits, the CC reversed its decision made at the 14th meeting and decided instead that all payments due will be paid as soon as possible to the beneficiaries through transfer to their existing accounts, without further restrictions.
  • Vulnerability assessments, financial counselling and provision of information on after-award services (such as social and family counselling, career counselling and other services with respect to re-employment) will be offered to beneficiaries during two-day orientation sessions in Dhaka.
  • The Fourth Revised operating budget was approved, which takes into account extended operations of the Rana Plaza Claim Administration but which is without additional financial requirement.
